Congratulations To You & A Giveaway

After posting almost one and half times a day for the last six months, I must be busy not to post on a Friday.  I’ll show you what I’ve been doing tomorrow.

I love this whole blogging phenomenon and ever since I started doing it last August, I’ve been addicted. I don’t know who comes here or why but I’m glad you do and even if no one came, I would still photograph and write on my little corner of the internet.

Because I have a short attention span, I’m going to incorporate some images during this LONG post that I took this month for the One Word project at Shutter Sisters. In accordance with my short attention span, I only managed a few shots…

I am an avid scrapbooker and before I started my online scrapbook – this very blog – it was my creative outlet. I haven’t done much scrapbooking since August because I wrote my first post then. August 16th as a matter of fact and my first post was about a flying squirrel. I didn’t know what the whole blogasphere was about or why people had blogs. Aside from a few news blogs, I don’t think I even read any.  Since then, I’ve found that most blogs are about something, photography, food or whatever. I guess I didn’t know that when I posted the squirrel. Mine still really isn’t about anything but my life…my family…my interests. I’m grateful for visitors who stop by my place because I love having guests over. The difference between visiting here and visiting my real home is that I don’t have to clean up before you come by.

Another image break.

I have been all over the blogasphere, looking at other people’s interests and lives and I’ve been inspired, tickled and challenged. I love it. I particularly love that you share your expertise, your photography tips and your recipes. The creative side of me says “wow, that’s beautiful.” And the analytical side of me says, “wow, I wonder how they did that.”

The other phenomenon I’ve encountered on my travels through the internet is the giveaways. I don’t care why people give things away, I just like entering the contests. I thought to myself, “I should give something away,” but I don’t have any money or anything that people would want – so it seems. For some reason it seems okay for other people to do it but not for me.

However, today I am celebrating something, my 250th post. My latest post last Thursday about my little girl was my 250th post. After doing the math, that’s almost 1.4 posts a day. I guess I have a lot to say. So I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and giving something away. You wouldn’t know it if you had quit reading already. I don’t blame you. But I congratulate those of you who got this far. I know life is busy. Who has time to read the long protracted blabberings of a perfect stranger? Anyway, if you made it this far, you will know that I’m giving away a Longaberger basket. Even as I write this, I’m slightly uncomfortable. I don’t solicit well. I’m not my own advocate and I’m not good at this – you know – “Leave a comment and I’ll give you something.”

Cute neighbor girl image break.

I’m not overly sentimental. The husband is the one who remembers most “firsts”, the day we met, the day he asked me out, etc. I don’t. I blew by my 100th post without any hoopla. I blew by my 200th post without any acknowledgment. I briefly acknowledged my 10,000 hit to my husband and moved on.

But I am taking a breather today and celebrating my 250th post with a “giveaway.”

birds92

Bird breather. Hang in there, I’m almost done.

I used to be a Longaberger basket consultant a long time ago. I stopped because I decided that you really can have too much of a good thing. I had baskets coming out of my ears. I went into my closet and found this cute little basket. It’s been in there forever, I don’t know how long I’ve had it. I’m giving it away to one lucky person who leaves a comment here. It can be about anything, it doesn’t matter at all. You can just say hi if you want.

So leave a comment below and you’ll be automatically entered. Even you guys -  your wives or girlfriends may like a Classic Tarragon Booking Basket. It’s da bomb. I thought about selling it on eBay but it’s much more fun to give it away. It will be fair to others if you leave only one comment. I’m going to leave the “contest” open until next Saturday.

Good luck and thanks for coming by.

  6. Puna, by you commenting on your comments does that make you eligible to win the basket? Congrats of your 250th blog post. I wish more were about me — LOL!!

  7. Carole says:

Wow, what a way to stumble in! I blog hop, but usually with cardmaking. My sister sent me a link and then I dropped by Hooked on Houses and found you. Blogging is fun! Thanks for the chance at blog candy.

  8. You know, I have google set to send me any blog that contains the word “Longaberger” and I got a hit on your site. To be honest, I scrolled down till I saw the word I was looking for and read just that paragraph. Then, I went back to the top and read your whole post. I laughed out loud when I read “The difference between visiting here and visiting my real home is that I don’t have to clean up before you come by.” If you haven’t already, you might want to check out http://www.flylady.net. She has saved me from CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome). In any case, congrats on your 250th. I think I may have 7 on mine. Too busy, just like you said. Take care.

  10. Kristyn says:

Wow – 250 posts. I don’t think I’ve managed to put together 250 full thoughts since August (: Anyways, I love reading the Blogs with my morning tea so keep it up even though I’m a blogging slacker.

  11. Hi Puna! Congrats on your 250th post! That’s quite an achievement. Thanks also for stopping by dolcepics.com. It’s always so lovely to receive such thoughtful comments such as yours. I love that you have a ton of photos on your blog! :) Here’s to the next 250 posts!

You are right! A cute little basket! If I won that basket, I’d use it as the collection basket at church, for the yoga class that I teach at the church.

Thanks for the giveaway, and congrats on your 250th post!

  14. i’m new to your blog. it’s nice here and i will be back to visit.
Congratulations on your 250th posts. i started a blog in Aug (the 18th actually) as a way of keeping in touch with my daughter who went away to college. i also had no idea what to expect but quickly became somewhat addicted – well flat out addicted. it’s so wonderful meeting new people from all over the country and world. i will hit my 10,000 hit today and was thinking that was something to celebrate. the giveaway is a good way to do that.

    i love that basket.

  15. Laura says:

Puna, I love reading your blog to keep up with you guys since I’m obviously so bad at writing, e-mailing or calling! If I win the basket you should have Big Daddy deliver it to Seattle on a layover!!!!!

  16. Shannon Thompson says:

Hey, Puna! Congrats on your Blogiversary! I enjoy reading it — you do a great job! Enjoy the snow today!

  17. kathleen says:

Puna, I know you love the snow, but I really want class on Tuesday! Danny had better show up.

  18. Lisa says:

    Puna,
I love reading your blog and seeing your photos. It is a great way to keep up on what you are up too. Since I am coming to crash at your house, I would be saving you the shipping costs (good thinking Big Daddy) and you would still be giving the basket away to someone who does read your blog. What do you think??? =)
    Oh yhea, congrats on 250!!!!

  19. junedel says:

    Hi Puna,
Yay! 250! You are one blogging fiend. I can barely keep up with your posts as they come up in my Google Reader. Coincidentally, I just did my 200th post yesterday too. Just like you, I haven’t scrapbooked much since starting the blog. I find that I can only do so much “creative stuff” at any given time. Are you planning on doing anything with your posts? I think I might print them into a Blurb book or something like that. I think Blurb now supports Wordpress, so yay for us!

  20. Carolyn says:

I love this basket. Thanks gor the giveaway.

  21. Cheryl says:

Hi! Just stopping by. Congratulations! I’m so envious of you to be able to find the time to post every day! I’m currently attempting to do more myself. I love your photography. Will be back often to check out your “archives”.
Glad to see that you’re enjoying your snow. We still have about 3 feet of the stuff and the temp. was 27 below last night! Here in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, (at least at this time of the year) it’s considered ……the other four letter word!

  22. Toni says:

Congrats on the milestone post! I acknowledged my 100th, completely forgot about the 200th and 300th, but had a giveaway at my 1st year anniversary. It was fun to do!

PS I love Longaberger baskets, but stopped collecting a couple of years ago. I’m sure I could find room for that little cutie. :)

  23. Puna says:

Yes Jody Shiloh is the dog! You’re too funny. You are welcome to give him a home, he needs one! Anyway, I’m not counting myself or the husband either as eligible for this giveaway. He doesn’t need a basket:)
