I listened to all three of them in one sitting. I’ve been listening all morning. As a matter of fact, I’m listening now as I write this. The girl put them on her iPod and was listening to JJ while she was getting ready for school this morning. I was touched and happy at her choice of music.

Meet The Girls

It was so great to see old friends again, some of which I had not seen for a few years. Whenever we get together, I think about the old days and the passing of time. And I almost always think “I’m so fat.”

Here we were last weekend,

The pretty popular one,
The prom queen,
The brain,
The artistic one,
The athletic one,
And the fat one.

I’ll let you figure out who is who.

Time passes quickly, we all know that. And some things really do get better with time. Cheers.

The Extremes

I had a wonderful weekend with my old friends. It’s so ironic that the GOP was having a Leadership Conference this weekend at the same hotel we were staying. So the first night we watched Michael Reagan speak lovingly of his father.

And the next night we were in a comedy club watching this comedian eviscerate his ex-wife.

It was that kind of weekend.

A Day Of Heartfulness

I remember that I was having a difficult day this day. I remember that I was crying. But then I went downstairs to the nursery and snapped some pictures of these beautiful siblings. And the world didn’t seem so bad.

A Girls’ Weekend

As you read this, I’m on my way to exotic Harrisburg, PA.

I’m spending the weekend with five good friends from high school.

Why Harrisburg you ask? Well, because it’s technically the halfway point between New Jersey, Philadelphia, Susquehanna, and DC. I think everyone will be driving an equi-distance. Is that a word?

I’m going to room with a long time friend of mine. She and I have been close ever since high school. She has come to visit me just about everywhere I’ve moved, Florida, Germany, Arizona, here…and you know what? She’s a ragin’ liberal.

So the fact that I went to this Tea Party rally last weekend to protest President Obama’s economic policy may not make her happy, but it won’t surprise her either. She knows me pretty well.

I’ve never been to a rally. I’m not the activist type. But there’s a difference between “activism” and freedom of speech. America is a great place. The right to assemble peacefully was in grand display.

One of the reasons I went (besides curiosity and the opportunity to get some pictures) is to support our friend Ron Miller who was MC’ing the event. Ron is a good friend and man – did he rock the crowd.

I try to keep politics out of my blog because politics is such a dirty – I mean dirty – affair. It’s not at all civilized. However, seeing citizens voice their opinions openly is a great civics lesson, a great lesson in the First Amendment. Our Founding Fathers were wise.

So what ever side you fall on, you have to appreciate the freedom that is expressed here. I know my friend, Barb, would appreciate that. I love her unconditionally, no matter what. I admire her in so many ways, in spite of our political differences.

And she does the same. That’s why I’m not afraid she’ll see this…she says she reads my blog, I’ll find out won’t I?

So while we are at the spa and at the comedy show, the six of us are going to just talk about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Maybe we’ll talk about manicures…yeah that’s right. I know also know we’ll talk about our families and the good old days and wonder what people are doing now. I can’t wait.

Here we are at the Newseum last fall, pretending we were reporters. We do the silliest things.

You know who else is a liberal? No not the husband, BFF Bruce. We love our liberal friends and pray for them all the time.

A shout out to the kids, Nanna and the husband. Unless the first picture is of a dog or a horse, they kids probably didn’t read this far and Nanna will say “What’s a blog? Oh that’s where Puna puts her pictures!”

I know one thing, with Nanna there, I know the house will be really clean when I get home.

Morning Dew

Morning is my favorite time of day. The dew this morning outside my front door.

Design Question Answered

A couple of weeks ago I ask for help for my console. I needed a change and I got some great advice! Thank you!

Here it was.

And here it is now!

Here’s what I did. You said clear the clutter. So I did. You said a long mirror, rather than a wide one. I didn’t have a long mirror so I put this tall print behind it. It’s of Zermatt, Switzerland where the husband and I got engaged. We were there in July to ski, you can do that in Zermatt where the Alps are at an elevation of 10,000 ft. While we were skiing on the mountain, he got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. I thought he fell down until he pulled out the ring. It was so romantic. I cried for the rest of the day – from happiness not because I was sad. I was also surprised and I don’t handle surprises well. The husband got this print from some friends. He was staying with them for the week and told them the story of our engagement. They literally took it off their wall and gave it to him. I’m digressing. Anyway, it’s tall so I’m following the advice I was given. I think it works.

I also cleared off the photos but left the vase. It was taken from my mother’s house. She knows it’s here. No worries.

The middle shelf has a celedon bowl my mother bought for me on her last trip to Thailand. She was there when they had the coup a couple of years ago. That’s another story. And I’m full of stories but I’ll never get to the whole design thing if I keep digressing.

You said “three things.” So I put three seashells on the bottom shelf. I got those…another time.

As for the pictures, I spread them out around my home.

I think you all were right. I can see them now! I have to display them, they mean a lot to me.

Ignore the chandelier on the floor. And the dog.

So thank you! Now onto the bedroom…
