It’s a Small World After All

We are on vacation, in Hawaii, six thousand miles from home. We went to the swap meet and who do we see? Why someone from our town in Maryland of course. The girl yells out, “Stephanie, Stephanie!” I’m confused and discombooberated since we know no one who lives in Hawaii anymore – and the girl was yelling?
In any case, I turn around and I see Stephanie’s mom who said, “I thought you guys might be here. Stephanie got an email from Gen who said that (the girl) was going to Hawaii.”

News get around quickly in 7th grade circles…Stephanie and the girl go to school together and Stephanie’s mom and I used to volunteer in the elementary school. I had not seen Stephanie since she was in 5th grade. She’s grown two feet, I swear.

And now we’re at the airport…leaving our precious Hawaii (boo hoo) and who do we run into? Someone who taught the husband in navigation school back in the ’80s. They were yelling at each other back and forth in the security line, it’s a good thing the TSA didn’t arrest someone…
If this is not proof of a small world, I don’t know what is.
