Scattered Leaves

I don’t like to brag but I know some people with great talent. I do…just sayin’.

Introducing Midsentence by Scattered Leaves Music.

scatterleaves1

My friend Daniel is a musician, artist, and dude. He asked me to take some photos for him for his album and it took a little while but I finally got some free time. Because Daniel is an artist, he knew exactly the “look” he wanted. He sent me an album cover and I thought, okay, easy enough. Actually, I didn’t put too much preparation into it because I was just going to follow his direction. That’s him in the front and far left. And he’s handsome too.

When I get to the shoot, I realize that it’s a little more complicated than I realized. There were a lot of people and as always the lighting was tricky. I don’t know all the technical aspects of photography, I just know when conditions aren’t right. And Jeremy’s shirt was not right. I told him so and he ran off to change. Then he came back with the same shirt on. That’s Jeremy second from the right in the front. Nice shirt dude.

And Tim, on the far right. He plays the drums, bass, guitar, and he’s a classical pianist. He’s in two bands…and he relented to stop texting long enough for me to get the shot.

Nate, second from left, cooperated completely. I don’t think he’s ever done a wrong thing in his life, and that’s saying a lot for a musician.

And there’s little Karly behind them. She was so short that I didn’t want her to stand, so I had her sit on the back of the chair. She’s adorable & going into the 7th grade this year.

When you click on the link to the album, you’ll hear Miss Dana’s beautiful voice (she’s in the back) and you will want to buy it right away. And if that doesn’t convince you, then here’s her little boy.

staffbabies2

That’s just one of her little boys. She had twins in December and there’s another one just like him. Look how cute he is, maybe you’ll buy it now.

When this album was recorded, my boy was a part of the choir so his voice is on the record. He’s not singing with them this summer, I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s because he’s enjoying his summer too much to have another commitment. In any case, he’s not in the photo – just keeping it real at LifeSignatures.

So if you have a penchant for beautiful, spiritual, and rockin’ music, buy the Scattered Leaves album on Amazon, on iTunes and on our very own site, Chesapeake Church.

We’ve already bought about ten copies.

The last couple of days have been all about my camera.

I was shooting handsome men.

july25b

Beautiful horses…amazing girls…

july25c

And incredible talent. This kid was amazing.

This photo of tomatoes from my garden is titled, “A Still Life.”

Today it’s all about  my oven. I’ve got a couple of places to be and I have to be there with food.

You have to excuse me, I have to go wake up the hired help.

Have a great weekend.

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about how the Lovely Frances, our receptionist had bought some roses for me while I was on vacation. Mine were a beautiful yellow and I was really happy to find them on my desk when I came back to work.

officeroses3

She is very sweet. And she looks like a younger, prettier Sarah Palin. Really. It’s a freaky. There she is in the red.

officeroses1

This is what they looked like today. She put them there July 6th. That’s almost three weeks ago. Perhaps they still look this way because I changed the water four times.

Or maybe it’s because the nuclear power plant is down the road. Hmmm….

800 Pounds of Love

If you want to wash a 800 pound horse.

horsewash5

And you want that horse to cooperate.

horsewash4

You should give it a treat, like you would your dog.

horsewash6

And you would tease that horse, like she’s a cute little ten pound puppy.

horsewash3

Except she’s not. She’s a horse.

horsewash1

But she falls for the cookie trick anyway.

horsewash2

She loves her. And vice versa. Good Joker.

Posted on Love Thursday.

p.s. I decided to change my blog background to the green that I missed from my old blog. I know it looks odd right now because the other colors don’t match. But I’m going to leave it for a while to see how I like it. It’s like wearing two different socks. Opinions are welcome.

When Summer Begins

It’s been a busy summer for the boy so far so I guess he deserves a little nap. He’s getting taller…and doesn’t quite fit in the screen of the husband’s point and shoot.

There was a swine flu scare at the camp where he was the last couple of weeks. After he got home, he wasn’t feeling well. I immediately thought the worst. He went fishing with the husband last Sunday and this was his position for most of the day. Could it be the swine flu?

He was very active at camp and actually lost about eight pounds while he was gone. Maybe he’s just tired?

Well, no time for lounging…it’s summer and that means one thing. Not sleeping in. Not lounging by the pool. Not hanging out with friends. And not fishing either!

It means that he has to do his summer reading for his English class and start on that paper! And yes, he’s taking an advance placement history class and he has a lot of research to do! And he has to get in shape for fall sports!

Hello? Hello? Wake up. Are you listening? Boys.

I’m posting this on Outdoor Wednesday because it’s Wednesday and technically, he’s outside.

And for those of you who were wondering. He loves his new room. And he didn’t even mind me introducing Bumbles to the world wide web.
