While in Hawaii last week (I keep saying it but I still can’t believe it was only last week), we had to eat at our of our favorite eating establishments, Sam Choy’s Breakfast Lunch and Crab. The kids wanted to go there even more than we did. They have the best pancakes!

But what I really wanted was the authentic Hawaiian breakfast.

Poke with scrambled eggs. This was seared fresh ahi with seaweed and a scoop of rice as an accompaniment. Oh it was good. And brought back many memories!

I also had to order the spam. Did you know that Hawaii is the state with the biggest consumption of Spam in the US? Uh huh, true. This delectable side dish was four slices of friend Spam for $4. I still thought it was worth it. Although I never eat Spam anywhere else outside of Hawaii. It’s just not the same here on the mainland. And I won’t eat it again until I go back, thank you.

Sam Choy’s has lots of fresh seafood and we are never disappointed. We once saw him cook with Iron Chef Morimoto at a charity dinner. He made a Beef Wellington that was out of this world…out of this world. And it’s an experience I’ll never forget.

I told you that the kids loved it there…

Please go see Ms. Gollum on her Foodie Friday post...it’s a delicious experience!

That looks like a delicious meal… ahi with scrambled eggs. I am fascinated about the Spam consumption in Hawaii. That’s very interesting. I’ve never tried Spam, but if I ever go to Hawaii, I will on your suggestion.

Thanks for sharing with us and Happy Foodie Friday…

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Hawaii is such a fun island and I always want to go back for a vacation. I love the fish tacos they have and also the puka dogs on Kawaii.
Lucky you to be there to enjoy some great foods along with some sun and surf. Thanks for sharing the photos.
