The Art of Wyland

This trip to Hawaii has brought back so many memories for us.
The kids remember the most mundane of things.
“I remember that bypass!’
“I fell out of that tree!”

And when we visited the Navy Exchange, they said, “Isn’t this where our van got towed?”
Why yes it is…because to the Navy, I’m a nobody but an Admiral is Somebody and one best remember that when one decides to park in a flag officer’s parking space.

In any case, I wanted to visit this beautiful mural again. It was painted by the marine life artist, Wyland. He’s known as the “Marine Michealangelo” as well as a conservationist and his art is renown around Hawaii. He did this mural for the Navy and it makes one feel like they are swimming with the whales.

Or at least I feel that way.
I had the honor of meeting him briefly once and he signed a little plaque for the boy. I was thrilled and one day…I’ll be able to afford a sculpture by him.
Aloha…I can’t stop saying that, sorry.

I love Wyland…glad you guys had a good time!

What a wonderful Blue Monday post.
Thank you for sharing.
I love this Mural .
Thank you for introducing me to Wyland today.
I am happy you had a delightful time and it is so much fun to find out what each person remembers about a place .
It is kind of like the way we all see the same thing yet see it very different from anyone else.
Have a great week.
Aloha to you
Happy Trails
Beautiful murals. My daughter saw them from a distance and came to peek over my shoulder. Very nice.
Have a happy Monday!

Puna, this is absolutely gorgeous! I can see why you would want to revisit this. It’s amazing. Loved what your kids could remember of the day. That’s funny! But this, my friend, is GORGEOUS!
Thanks for visiting me. I enjoyed visiting you, too!
Happy Blue Monday!
