When Summer Begins

It’s been a busy summer for the boy so far so I guess he deserves a little nap. He’s getting taller…and doesn’t quite fit in the screen of the husband’s point and shoot.
There was a swine flu scare at the camp where he was the last couple of weeks. After he got home, he wasn’t feeling well. I immediately thought the worst. He went fishing with the husband last Sunday and this was his position for most of the day. Could it be the swine flu?
He was very active at camp and actually lost about eight pounds while he was gone. Maybe he’s just tired?
Well, no time for lounging…it’s summer and that means one thing. Not sleeping in. Not lounging by the pool. Not hanging out with friends. And not fishing either!
It means that he has to do his summer reading for his English class and start on that paper! And yes, he’s taking an advance placement history class and he has a lot of research to do! And he has to get in shape for fall sports!
Hello? Hello? Wake up. Are you listening? Boys.
I’m posting this on Outdoor Wednesday because it’s Wednesday and technically, he’s outside.
And for those of you who were wondering. He loves his new room. And he didn’t even mind me introducing Bumbles to the world wide web.

So much for a summer of ease! I’m an English teacher and I’ve always wondered how teachers get students to read a required book during the summer. (I have problems getting them to do it during the year!) I love the colors of this shot!
It’s called nagging parents, that’s how you do it! Actually he’s going to the mall today with some friends so please don’t feel sorry for him!
Puna, LOL! Something tells me he’s just tired from camp and is taking a little rest from getting up at the crack of dawn and doing all the things they make you do at camp. It sounds like he’s got a lot on his agenda, so I’ll shout with you, “WAKE UP!” LOL!
Happy Outdoor Wednesday…
XO,
Sheila
watching the boys become men is a bit bittersweet. I remember how tired mine were after a week at camp or even a camp out so maybe he is just recuperating from all the fun and activity.
I love the photo. The blue is so brilliant.
Mama Bear
We tease him a lot but only because we know he can take it. It also alleviates my urge to cry every time I think of how big he’s getting. And how he’ll leave me soon:(
All that growing kicks the crap out of you. Sleep is the best medicine for that. I love the way kids seem to sprout through the summer and then when school starts you hardly recognize some of them.
So true, love how you put it. He is definitely growing like a weed.
He’s probably just unwinding from camp and the constant company around him. it helps to bang pots and pans along with the wake-up call.
Oh, boy, that sounds like what my oldest boy’s August is going to be like. He also has a lot of work to do to prepare for AP classes! Poor kids!
Nice place to relax!
Nice post!
Happy outdoor.
too funny! AP English can ruin a summer can’t it? or at least it will try! He looks like he is enjoying the boat!
I stopped by from smiling sally’s blue monday blog roll – Happy BLue Monday!
He’s not only enjoying the boat, he’s enjoying his summer!
I so love that photo! Just chilling out there… Happy W/W!
