While He’s Away

The boy has been at summer camp the last couple of weeks. While he’s away, I decided it was a great time to clean his room.

What boy would not love the fact that his mother would come into his room without his permission or knowledge and systemically go through every piece of paper, book, clothing and magazine? Oh, and I also re-arranged his furniture. I’m certain he won’t mind.

And on top of that, I purchase new linens and put his companion, Bumbles, on brand new pillow cases. I’m sure he would have brought Bumbles along to camp if he wasn’t rooming with ten other 14 year old boys.

My boy also loves airplanes and he has a collection of almost 50 replications and models of all types.

And he has a dead bug collection. Boys.

He has airplane pictures and posters and a whole collection of miniature race cars. All of which were not quite in their place when he left. Notice I didn’t post any “before” photos.

My question is: What does one do with years and years of trophies of sports activities that he no longer participates in? It seems a shame to put them in a box in the basement but I’m not sure if we need to keep his baseball championship trophy from when he was eight years old. Anyone? Anyone?

I hope he doesn’t get too upset that I posted Bumbles. I can’t wait until he gets home.
