Why it’s green of course.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Robert Frost
Certain stances of this poem have been quoted over and over again in many venues. The concept that Robert Frost conveys so beautifully is one that people have adopted in their decision making or as it would seem, a retrospective look back on their own lives.
Me? I love the poetry and I’m grateful for the divine intervention which inspired it. When I was a little girl, I wished for the life I have. I admit it. I did not pray though, I was not brought up to do so and I never thought of asking God for anything. In turn, I never did anything for Him. I was not one to dream of my princess wedding – though there’s nothing wrong with that. I want my own little girl to have the blessing of doing just that. Instead, as a girl, I wanted a “normal” life, one that included exactly what I have – peace.
And I see my sister lie in her brand new hospital bed, I realize that peace, among many things, means acceptance. However, when one is a young woman ravaged by the effects of Lou Gehrig’s disease, neither comes easily. Especially for her two young children. She is going to move away to Georgia soon. To me, that’s heart-breaking.
So Gayle, your Monday Memories means one thing to me today…that I will try as best I can to be the sister I’m supposed to be before she moves away. I will pray she forgives me of all my trespasses big and small. I will forgive without holding a grudge. This way we can both take the road less traveled.
Such a delightful mosaic of living greens! You are a very strong person allowing peace to be your guide on your less travelled road!

Sweetheart, this is one beautiful post. It’s why I love you so much. I don’t want your sister to move away from us, either. I wish there was something I could do to prevent it.

My eyes are burning with tears right now. It’s hard when loved ones move away and hard to see them ill. You just want to fix things and make them better. My thoughts go out to you and your family. (BTW, wonderful mosaic – love the upper right photo and that gorgeous light.)

I’ve only found your blog recently and I’ve enjoyed your posts. But none more than this one. It resonated with me for so many reasons.. not the least of which is that my own mother was a victim of ALS. I understand the notion of acceptance and the difficult road it is to that place.
