My Love Has Gone…

One of the loves of my life is leaving me this weekend.

It’s that guy right there, with the aviator glasses on - inside. I dropped him off early this morning.
I went on the same trip with them last year and I went on the middle-school ski trip the year before that. I figured it wasn’t fair of me to hog all the fun so I’m letting much younger and hipper adults go this year. I’m just that way.

I was watching him with three of his roommates and the words of Pastor Mark resonated with me as he spoke to the kids.

“Girls have the red cards. Boys have the blue cards. No purpling. If you are here with a boyfriend or girlfriend, don’t make us sick by watching you make out all weekend. Keep it to hand holding – or less. We will be checking luggage. If we catch you with drugs or alcohol, you must share. This is a Christian trip. Only kidding. Your parents will drive the four hours it take to get there and pick you up and take you home. No punching holes in the wall. The guy who did it last year isn’t on the trip this year.”
“Now lets pray.”
I know I’ll be praying for Pastor Mark for sure.
I saw one of the wresting moms as I was dropping him off and I said, “Oh I didn’t know that (your child) was on this trip! I guess they’ll both miss practice today and the makeup meet on Monday.”
To which she told me she didn’t know anything about the practice and meet. It just proves to me that the concept of Lost and Confused Adolescent Teen is a universal mantra.
And I’m also secretly glad that I’m not the only one.
Melody of Slurping Life is back after a hiatus. I’m playing SOOC Saturday with her today. As should you. None of these photos were edited…as you can probably tell.

I love the “No Purpling” line! I am going to have to remember that one for when I have teenagers! And the “we will be checking your luggage and you must share”…HeHeHe!! I hope you get some rest this weekend.
It sounds like the kids are in good hands!
Love, love, love Pastor Mark!! Hope he has a great time!

Way to go, Pastor Mark. I love guys like that – keeping it real.
I like that your captures “keep it real”, too.

Ha! I’ve just come back from a Year 10 camp (15 Year olds) where we spent half the night chasing them back into their respective dorms. I FEEL for you Pastor Mike
Nice photos story. Thanks for sharing.
My son is also a High School Pastor at his church Maranatha Chapel is San Diego, CA He has 18 high schoolers on a missions trip to Costa Rica this week. I KNOW he needs prayer too. haha He LOVES his job, but what a tough one I am thinking…so much responsibility. Hope your son has a wonderful time and that the Lord richly blesses them all. Sweet Blessings to you on this Valentine’s day, Debbie
I love the purple!!! How fun.
I bet great memories will be made on this trip, and I am sure lives will be changed.
I’m sure he is really missing his mom right now.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY PUNA!
Your pastor sounds as though he’s really great with the kids. Enjoy your weekend.
Hope they have a wonderful time.
These are emotional times for parents. He’ll be back before you know it.
Happy Valentine’s Day.

They are always our kids; near or far. I am glad to experience the joy and tears of a mother’s love.
