During the boy’s wre*stling season last year, the girl told me she felt like an only child since he was gone so much. My how the tables have turned.

I received a text from the girl last week. It went like this.

The girl: “Please, please, please do not forget to be here at five fifteen.”

Of course I forgot so I said this: “Ms Maureen is going to get u.”

The girl: “But you have to be here mom.”

Me: “Why?”

The girl: “Its the parent thing. The coach said if you’re not here you’re gonna get volunteered for something.”

The girl is one of those who does not ever want to get in trouble or ever draw attention to herself. She’s extremely shy so I saw a great opportunity to freak her out.

Me: “She can’t threaten me, who does she think she is?”

Prolonged silence from the other end.

Me: “I’m kidding.”

Crickets.

Me: “I’ll be there.”

The girl: “Okay. Thanks.”

She’s so cute, but that thing in her mouth is just grotesque.

So I went to the parent meeting and yes, I did my due diligence and volunteered to serve at the concession stand. But then last night, the girl came home with raffle tickets for their fund raiser.

The prize is a one week stay at the Massanutten Four Season Resort~~sleeps 6 people~~skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing for the week of December 17 – 24.

Tickets are $1 or 6/$5. Proceeds to go benefit the Northern Girls’ Field Hockey Team.

You can send me your dollar in the mail and I’ll mail your ticket:) Can’t get away that week? Don’t snowboard?

Looks like I’ll be donating $30 to the field hockey team. Just know that if I win, I’m not sharing.

Aw, I know the joys of serving the concession stand well. If you win, we’ll expect great stories and pictures!

And I saw your picture on PW today – I think that makes two for you? Congrats!

I know it might not be cool to say that the girls look cute in their uniforms but they do! Uniforms have come so far. Good luck to her.

  3. Sounds like a fabulous prize! Good luck!
