December 13, Sparkling In Flight

We assembled our Christmas tree late this year. The boy kept urging us to hurry up – he’s the one with the most Christmas spirit, this year and every other year. He would say, “Why are we so busy? It’s Christmas! We need to get the tree up!”

Then he would go to school/practice/matches/small groups/his friend’s house/the football game.

We finally decorated the tree last weekend and I was really happy to see all of our ornaments. I love this little candy cane airplane.

He dug out a little bird house ornament and told us that LCAT Daniel gave it to him for his 13th birthday – which is in August. We didn’t remember and found it hard to believe – I mean – no 13 year old boy remembers to give birthday gifts, much less a bird house. But LCAT Daniel came over last weekend to watch a Christmas movie with us (Die Hard) and the boy brought out the ornament. Daniel exclaimed, “Hey! Happy birthday!”

We all laughed and he said, “I made it myself.”

I will miss these boys when they are gone – no doubt about it.
