Monday Instagram Three – Honduras Version

hondurasmosaicI’ve been watching the journey that our youth mission team is taking in Honduras and just beaming with pride and happiness. In a world where there can be callous selfishness, these kids are learning to give of themselves in ways they never knew they could. When I turn inward, as I often do, this makes me realize how I must become smaller so that God can be bigger.

I watch for the smallest glimpse of the boy. There he is, putting up a wall, or helping Jose carry building materials, or playing soccer. I watch for him in the photos that Alicia-girl is tweeting from Camayagua, Honduras and then I Instagram them and post on for all to see on our social media site. I’ve cried a tear or two seeing the images of these familiar faces doing work that is sure to bless others.

I’m reminded of these words by David McCullough Jr, “And then you too will discover the great and curious truth of the human experience is that selflessness is the best thing you can do for yourself…Make for yourselves, please, for your sake and for ours, extraordinary lives.”

And these words – “Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.” Phillipians 2.
