Team Up Thursday – Old

It’s time for Team Up Thursday again!

This week’s Team Up Thursday theme is “Old.” Above is Kristina’ photo. Her computer with her photo editing software crashed. She has given me the ultimate trust to edit her photos for her until she is up and running again. This is akin to giving someone permission to watch your child. It’s big, Thank you Kristina for that trust.

She took this with her point and shoot, wow. This is a renovated historical building in her city. It’s now a night club but still has the charm of yesteryear I think.

I edited it with:

1. B’s Vanilla B&W. It is one of my all time favorite black and white actions.
2. Warmed it with an orange color overlay with opacity somewhere in the 20’s.
3. Added grain

This is my mother-in-law. She recently moved back to Indiana after living in Florida for almost 30 years. I can’t even tell you her story yet. It’s too sad. She is among family so that is the wonderful part of the change.

I edited the photo with B’s Vanilla B&W.

iHeart Beach Fun

We didn’t go to the beach this year, opting for the lake instead. So when iHeartfaces asked for beach photos, I had to reach into my archives. This is our trip last year to Hawaii. It doesn’t have a clear face but I like the focus of these ladies learning the hula on the beach.

You have no idea how much I wanted to grab a skirt and join them.

I know that last week I said I wanted to stay home for a while but after going through my archives, I decided that I want to go back to Hawaii – tomorrow…

As usual, I tweak my photos. How I did it…

1. Boost – PW action
2. Lighten – used curves PS4
3. POS – 25% Tra Action
4. Burnt-Out – 25% Tra Action
5. Soft and Faded – PW action (I don’t remember the opacity)
6. Duplicate layer
7. Layer option – Soft Light 25%

It was very early in the morning and I was not quite my a “photographer’s mode” so I was in auto. It needed a lot of help.

Team Up – BIG

This week’s theme for Team Up Thursday with my wonderful partner Kristina is BIG.

This is Kristina’s photo. Yes, it’s definitely a BIG tree. Tree climbing was a favorite pastime as a kid and I remember my friend Andrea fell out of a tree just like this when we were about 10 years old. She broke her ankle. We were forbidden to climb trees after that by our parents. We were couldn’t have been more disappointed than when we found out there was no Santa Claus.

This is my interpretation of BIG. It’s the cross in our church and I firmly believe that God is bigger than any and all of us, and certainly bigger than our troubles. That very perspective has kept me from feeling sorry for myself during many rough times.

Topaz Tuesday With Dolcepics

I’m playing along with Laura of Dolcepics today for fun edits. I’m also playing along with Bob Towery at Dream Tomorrow, Live Today, Cherish Yesterday for Topaz Tuesday though I’m not always sure that’s he’s playing with me. I’m sort of a party crasher:)

This is Laura’s ”before” pic. I love this photo, I’m really into necklaces lately.

I used the Topaz Adjust “Venice” filter. I thought it just needed a little color pop, and that’s it. Sometimes I think subtle is best though I find it hard to stop sometimes.

Tres easy. I used Golden Vintage by CoffeeShop (I frankly don’t know how this lady does what she does) and then I used PW’s Boost action at 50%. Voila.

Hot & Cold Thursday

I admit that it’s been hard to get Kristina and I together…we both have quite lives to navigate that sometimes can get in the way of our creativity. Well…it just makes it that much more important to take the time.

Here’s our take on this week’s theme, Hot & Cold. I like Kristina’s very much, it looks like it could be in a faucet magazine – if there was such a thing. I love the focus on the spout. You know what I thought immediately when I saw this?

Boy her sink is clean. I’d be embarrassed to photograph mine.

My photo is on the bottom. We ate breakfast here each morning we were there. I love grapefruit juice, but only in Florida. I can’t drink it in Maryland for some reason. It doesn’t seem right.

So there you go! We did it Kristina!

January 24, iHeartfaces Texture Challenge

I took a series of self-portraits hoping to use one for my bio on Vision and Verb. I didn’t use any of them but I thought I’d put this one in for my entry for the texture contest this week at iHeartfaces. Download the texture I used courtesy of Les Brumes. And the white specks on the photo? That’s toothpaste on my bathroom mirror. It’s built in texture.
