oct27Is it Thursday? This week has gotten away from me – the universe is askew and off kilter. But I’m sure it’s just me – I’m catching up now by golly! Contrary to what the title implies, there’s no secret to tell. It’s just my cat in a bag. And he’s out now:)

Please visit me at Vision and Verb today. I would be oh so grateful.

August 25, Storms A-Comin’

stormHere we go again. This week’s earthquake came and went so fast and no one was prepared for it. This weekend’s storm, Hurricane Irene is tracked to affect us in some way – hopefully not as badly as some are predicting.

We have been watching this natural disaster for a couple of days – all that means is that we (I) have been stressed out for the past couple of days. This storm is not just coming and leaving – no sirree. This storm is going to cause as much angst as possible before she arrives.

For you see – my beautiful niece Mandi is getting married this weekend. This Saturday to be exact – in Kentucky. We have plans to fly out to see the gorgeous blushing bride. I can’t wait to take pictures and be sobbing in my handkerchief. Cursed this storm! It’s supposed to hit our area late Saturday night and into early Sunday morning. If it causes any airports on the east coast to close, we will be stuck in Kentucky and may not get back on Sunday. The airports will be a mess. The schedule will be chaos. Cats and dogs will be living together.

In our house they already do.

And what if the coastlines flood here at home? The family who is watching the dog will have to evacuate, they live on the bay. Hopefully they will take the dog with them. And what if the sycamore falls on our house? Perhaps it will be best that we are in Kentucky when it does.

I’m trying to make light of all of it but I’m actually quite nervous – and it won’t be funny if all I’ve predicted comes true.

I didn’t have time to make up doomsday scenarios before the earthquake. Thank goodness.

I text the husband every five minutes – “Are we going?” “Are we flying?” “Are we driving?”

He says we’ll decide tonight. Well if that isn’t just like him to be common sensible.

So I’ll let you know if our sycamore survives the storm this weekend.

Oh – and one last thing. Please visit me on Vision and Verb today. I’m a little calmer over there . . .

July 14, Around The House & Vision And Verb

june14I was wandering around my home yesterday with my little phone (that came free with my cell plan) and I came upon a little vignette in my hallway. It is the hat I wear when I snip my roses. It’s hanging on the arm of the antique Chinese that I bought from a decorator friend when I lived in Hawaii. The Chinese basket was a gift from my mother. A friend sewed the pillows from some kimono material I found in a Japanese market in Tokyo years ago.

It’s funny how a simple photo brings me back to my past as vividly as if it were yesterday. I think it’s time for some new adventures don’t you?

Photo edited with Topaz Adjust with a curves layer to lighten. Then I used PWA’s Boost action. It looks like I put a texture on it – but I didn’t. I suppose a low resolution, cheap camera is not such a bad thing.

Please visit me today at Vision and Verb – it’s about a totally unrelated topic. Snoring – it’s true.

mar23Oh spring I know you come,
Save us from barren winter’s hold,
To bring us warmth and and give us sun,
and wait for summer’s tales be told.

Poem by Puna Miller, Elizabeth Barret Browning wannabe

Please visit me on Vision and Verb today. The content is very different from this post. Trust me.

February 9, In My Fridge 3

This is what my herb and cheese drawer looks like right now. It has a little ziploc bag of cilantro in it. I know myself well enough to know that one of the ways that I show love is to feed people. It’s nothing contrived, actually, if I would stop feeling like that I’d have a lot more free time. But I feel deeply that cooking for my family is one way to keep my family whole.

On the other hand – if you cook, you have to go to the store – often. And grocery shopping ranks on my chores-I-do-not-like list right above laundry, which is last.

And on another note – I’m over at Vision and Verb today showing everyone how I did the planet series in my photography last week. Please visit me there. I hope you have a great rest of your Wednesday. I will spend mine trying to get over this sore throat I woke up with this morning, grrrrr . . . who has time to get sick?
