Huh? Us?

I told you so! I knew you’d get us in trouble!

Sigh. It’s a day in a life don’t cha know? But they’re cute . . . it’s a good thing.

Contrary to what the idiom implies, I like it when my life has gone to the literal dogs. I love the unpredictability and the chaos.

Except for when I have to clean up the vomit . . .

She never brags about her equestrian accomplishments – she leaves that to me – so when I read the text (at a red light), I knew exactly what she meant.

She fell in love with another animal that she wants to bring home.

I had an hour to reminisce about what animal I was going to say no to. Was it another donkey? Or perhaps a cat with only one eye?

When I got there, I saw this beautiful dog.

And I knew… he was a young dog and had a really sweet and gentle nature, you just wanted to hug him. He’s up for adoption and needed a new home – but not our home.

He was introduced to big horses for the first time that day and this is how he reacted.

“Hmmm…I wonder what that big animal is?”

“Yawn…boooorring…”

“Wait – is she going to fall off?”

“Oh well…how long is this meet going to last anyway?”

We’ve asked that question quite a few times ourselves! What a lovely dog – and no we didn’t bring him home.

Meet Harley and Jackson.

These boys immediately connected with the girl – it’s a love story.

They were like peanut and butter, America and apple pie, Cheech and Chong.

The girl was totally in love. How can you blame her?

These cuties were rescued by Miss Myrna and Mr. Jack from the Golden Rescue Foundation.

That begs the question, who would raise a Golden and then reject them?

I don’t understand it.

This was my favorite thing about this relationship. The boys would wake up the girl every morning.

Sometimes it got a little crazy . . . oh the madness.

But she didn’t mind at all.

We miss you Harley and Jackson! Thanks for letting us stay in your guest rooms.

Look at those faces. How adorable. It makes me want to adopt a Golden. I get like this when I see toddlers too.

Gotta stop this line of thinking right now…

Well, I have the perfect thing on which you can waste your money.

How about some doggie champagne? It’s probably illegal to give dogs alcohol so these are just harmless chew toys.

I thought they were clever. This one is called Killer Bite.

And since I”m a red wine drinker, this one is my favorite, the Drooler’s Selection, Grrobert Slobbery.

Can’t fathom giving your doggie beer or wine? How about some caffeine? Mountain Drool, really cute.

These have obnoxiously loud squeakers in them so make sure they play with it outside.

I couldn’t decide which to get and since we had a limited budget – we decided to pass. It would have been a waste of money. Besides, a dog would never know if you bought them a gift on your trip. They are just glad to see you come home.

Humans on the other hand, expect silly gifts. So we decided that our money was better spent on a bejeweled fish ring for the girl  instead.

It’s a much better use of our resources:)

All topped with a garnish of cilantro. Want a bib? What a messy eater.

It’s nice to have a cook who will make you such a gourmet meal. She must really be talented.

What? Don’t like cilantro? You’ll eat cat poop but not cilantro? I suppose there is no explaining tastes…

This porch floor carpeting is horrendous. I’m going to have to change it to stone and when it’s all done, I’ll look at this photo to remind myself of the horror.

It’s Friday and it’s really take out pizza night – not dog food night – at least for some of us in the family. Yes, it’s Friday…

Even creatures like Tuk Tuk who peed on my carpets twice and ate two bowls of the cat’s food while he was here last weekend.

I now also forgive more.

So when I see doggie cuteness I have to photograph it. Like this dog at the McDonald’s drive through.

And this one behind the wheel at Walmart.

I obviously have a very interesting life and go to many interesting places.

He didn’t like being photographed. Probably didn’t have his license on him.

I’d love to see your pets . . . especially if you have horses!

Maybe they are just camera shy. I just love dogs. So unique, all of them. Just like humans.

For some reason my weekend was filled with the squished faces of these pugs and boxers. They are so happy in their own skins, not caring that what they look like or what others may think of them.

I want to be a pug in my next life.

Or rather in keeping with my theology, I know there are pugs in heaven.
