Beautiful Equine Art

Diane-Listen-2_thumb[1]For those of you who visit often – or not so often – know that we love horses here. Rather, the girl loves horses so the rest of the family does by default. I do admit that her horses Joker and Ella have made their into my heart and now I can truly say that I love them, all four legs and bulging bellies of them.

I find equine art particularly beautiful. There’s something wild and majestic but endearing and serene about horses. No one captures these great animals better than my friend Diane of Diane Schuller Photography.

And lucky us – she’s giving one of her beautiful photos away on Kelly’s blog at JAX Does Design. Kelly is a designer and blogger. She is graciously giving away a Diane Schuller fine piece of art and I think you should visit and see for yourself how beautiful it is. Be warned – every time I go to Kelly’s I want to throw out all of my furniture and purchase new.

So visit Kelly’s site to check how you can win the beautiful art above. And visit Diane’s site to check out her other horse photography. I promise you will be blown away.

Update: Speaking of girl and horses, here’s a video of her riding at one of her meets this year. That’s my girl! She’s a beautiful rider!

marykay2I asked the husband to choose a number between 1 and 3. It took him a long time to answer me. I could tell he was fighting the urge to ask me why and I wasn’t forthcoming. It was an easy question.

It was actually quite funny to watch.

He finally chose – 1! So the Beautiful Ann who looks 20 years younger than her chronological age wins the Mary Kay make-up remover! Thanks for the donation Lonnie. I think Maryland is as cold as the North Pole right now.

summaryAnd guess who won the coveted horse’s butt trophy for the best soup last weekend? I obviously need to eat more soup and less spaghetti . . .

pp1Now I just have to find a place to put it so as to showcase its true meaning. I now have the honor of coming up with the next food challenge as well as hosting it as my house.

The boy wants a mac-n-cheese challenge. I may just take a poll . . .

My Mary Kay Lady Lives In The North Pole ~ Giveaway

January 10, 2011 by Puna
Filed under Fitness/Health/Beauty/Run, Giveaways, Mish Mash

marykay2I have a friend who sells Mary Kay. She lives in North Pole, Alaska. I live in Maryland. We met in Arizona about 14 years ago.

Because I have a friend who sells Mary Kay and lives in the North Pole, I’m giving away this Mary Kay eye makeup remover.

You can consider the rest of this post a disclaimer:

Because I have a friend who sells Mary Kay and lives in the North Pole, I will occasionally use Mary Kay. I am not a Mary Kay distributor and I am not an exclusive user of Mary Kay products. I do not receive any compensation, rectification, or reciprocity from Mary Kay. I do not know Mary Kay and I do not have a pink Mary Kay car.

marykay1However, when I find a great product, I crow about it. And this eye makeup remover is just plain great.

When I placed my latest order (which happens about twice a year) with Lonnie, my Mary Kay lady who lives in the North Pole, I asked if she would give me a free eye makeup remover in place of the bonus gift to give away on this blog.

She agreed, she’s a doll.

I have tried many different types of makeup remover products, including Clinique, Neutrogena, CVS and a variety of others and hands down, this is the best. It’s not greasy, like baby oil. It doesn’t sting and unlike some makeup removers, your makeup will come off in one application. It leaves my eyes soft like I just moisturized them, which is wonderful because too much tugging at the eyes equals wrinkles.

I don’t always get makeup readily (because Lonnie lives in the North Pole) and I’m loyal to her and no other Mary Kay lady, so I will run out of some things because I’m a bad makeup planner. I am intimidated by the ladies at the makeup counter at Macy’s – I feel like a fish out of water.  I travel to Walmart and I stand and stare at the myriad of cosmetic offers and I start to shake. Oh the pressure.

So I fall back on the old standby.

marykay3If you would like me to send this makeup remover to you, tell me what kind of makeup you use in the comments and it may be yours. I don’t have any other interest other than I’m just curious. Maybe some of you will have a great makeup tip for me. Or if there is something that you use that you really like, please share it. I want to know!

And of course, if I pick your name, this fantastic makeup remover is yours:) Giveaway ends next Monday.

Leave me a comment please!

shasta1Lisa of goodknits.com! The answer of course is Mt. Shasta.  Congratulations Lisa! You not only knit like a professional but your photos, oh my goodness gracious they are beautiful.

Since there were only six entries, I asked the boy to pick a number between 1 and 6 and he said 7. I should have expected nothing less. Anyway, you won on the redo.

martha3Congratulations on winning this beautiful Martha Stewart chick dish from my basement. You can put gravy in it and put it in the oven. What can be better? I hope you enjoy it.

I’m going to revisit my knitting this winter. If it’s not too uncomfortable, send me an email and let me know what your snail mail is and I’ll send it tout suite!

What’s Out Your Window #4 ~ Giveaway

I am so remiss in posting this giveaway. I impulsively posted the above photo last Wednesday and asked that you guess what it was. Well you can still guess on this post.

Some hints:
1. It’s a mountain.
2. It’s not Mount St. Helen.
3. It’s not Mount Hood (sorry Charlane.)
4. It’s not Munt McKinley (sorry Barb.)
5. It’s a big mountain.
6. It’s in California.
7. It starts with “Sh.”

If you guess correctly, you will be entered to win this . . .

martha1

A Martha Stewart Chicken Dish.

martha3

I think it’s really cute.

martha2

Though I didn’t take a photo of it with it open, you can put jelly beans etc inside of it. The real beauty is that you can also put it in the oven and cook something in it.

That Martha is so smart. Imagine serving your favorite side dish in this for Thanksgiving dinner! Your family will be impressed.

martha4

I am a big Martha fan. I really admire her. She is much more than just a Diva of the Home. She’s a business woman, a creative woman, and an accomplished woman.

martha5

It was a travesty that all that energy and resources were put into jailing her for her insider trading indictment. Compared to all the other egregious trading practices out there, I say it was an injustice.

This dish was never used and you guessed it; it’s from my basement. Anyway, you can win the chicken if you guess correctly. Just leave a comment, a guess or whatever.

Here’s a few more hints.

8. Its name starts with “Sh” and ends with “a.”
9. Don’t feel badly if you don’t know off the top of your head. I never heard of it until the husband told me.

I’ll leave this up for a week or so. As I’m cleaning out my basement, your comments here may be my only fun for the next six months.

On this Wordless Wednesday, tell me where this is everyone! Anyone who guesses correctly will be entered to win a Martha Stewart Chicken. I don’t have a photo of it though … I’ll take one tonight.

Hints: It’s in the US. It’s not Mt Saint Helen. And it’s a mountain. I know the last hint wasn’t helpful.

Good luck!

Sorry for the delay! I’m blaming it on my kids. I have one sick at home and another that I think is sick but won’t stay home because she has a field hockey game this evening. What’s a mother to do?

But without further ado, the winner of the Hello Canvas, What’s Out Your Window giveaway is Shirley from Behind the Lens. That’s a $149 value!

Congratulations Shirley! Thank you for entering all three weeks as well as doing all the extra entries. It paid off!

And there’s more, as there always seems to be with my giveaways.

I wrote Hello Canvas and commented on how much Toni Johnson of Toni Johnson Studios wanted a canvas per the comments.

I suppose they read the comments too and already knew. Hello Canvas said no matter who was chosen as the winner, Toni would get one too. So Toni, you also get a 24×36 canvas courtesy of Hello Canvas. Woot!

If you left a link than you can purchase a Hello Canvas canvas at a 25% discount. Please contact me directly if you are interested in purchasing.

I’m blown away by Hello Canvas’s generosity as well as the quality of their product. What a great company. Did I mention that shipping is free? Well it is! Thank you once again for sponsoring this giveaway!

Here a  photo of the beginning of my canvas project so far in my living room. I’m excited to finish it.

Congratulations to Shirley and Toni!

Thank you those of you who participated in the Hello Canvas, What’s Out Your Window giveaway. I could have chosen a shorter name. I could have conducted a less complex giveaway. Or I could have not done it at all, which would be a shame for someone!

As it stands, it will take me a little time to go through the entries and make a determination of the winner. I want to make sure I honor each and every entry and not miss a thing.

So thank you for your patience. I hope to have a winner by Friday – at the very latest.

One More Day For The What’s Out Your Window Giveaway

Thank you to those of you who linked and made comments to this giveaway, courtesy of Hello Canvas. If you have a canvas by them already, as do I, you already know what a wonderful product they offer. And if you don’t have one, then you have one day left to enter for a chance to win one. A 24×36 canvas is the grand prize for the What’s Out Your Window contest. Click here or on the top photo in the sidebar to enter!

Thank you Hello Canvas for your generosity. What great opportunity for someone.

Miss Shannon asked  me yesterday how big this canvas was. I told her 5 feet, but as it turns out it, it’s not. It’s a mere 50 inches wide so a little shorter than I thought but big enough to make me wonder what I was thinking when I measured and made the purchase.

In any case this Hello Canvas canvas was beautiful, albeit big. I’m a fan. If I were a professional photographer, I would not hesitate to put a client’s image on this and offer it as part of a package.

cawl4

And I would not hesitate to give it away as a gift, as I did in this case.

Three years ago we adopted the cat from CAWL, a wonderful animal rescue organization in our area. We stopped in there one day out of curiosity and left with a cat. Never ever visit a rescue operation on a whim.

cawl3

The cat was very afraid though a few years ago he was roaming the halls like he owned the place. And I never go anywhere without my Epiphanie bag.

As a thank you to them, we brought the huge canvas down and gave it to them to hang on the wall. While we were there we visited all the poor animals who still needed a home.

cawl6

cawl5

It breaks your heart.

They have since told us that they hung it up on the wall of the hallway that leads to the cat neutering room (ouch.)

cawl1

I have not had a chance to get a photo of it on the wall but it’s in good company with the other canvases, like this cute painting here.

To read more about Hello Canvas, click on Damien Franco’s review of the company on his site, Your Photo Tips.

Don’t forget you have one more day to get your linky in, become a LifeSignature fan on facebook or follow @HelloCanvas on twitter.

Good luck to all of you!
